Supermodel Gisele Bundchen marries footballer Tom Brady

Los Angeles, Feb 27 (DPA) Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen and American football star Tom Brady have tied the knot in an intimate California ceremony, news reports said.
The couple married Thursday in a Catholic service in Santa Monica with only close family and friends attending, according to the celebrity news site Usmagazine.com.
The bride, 28, wore a strapless ivory lace gown by Dolce and Gabbana while her three dogs wore matching floral lace collars.
There was no official confirmation from the couple's spokesmen.
Bundchen and Brady, 31, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, have been an item for the past two years, their relationship producing much material for celebrity magazines.
The three-time Superbowl champion split from his last girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan, then heavily pregnant, shortly before his relationship with Bundchen became public.
Brady, however, managed to repair his tarnished image by being a devoted dad to now-2-year-old John Edward Thomas Moynahan.
Bundchen, longtime on-off girlfriend of Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, split from the Titanic actor in 2005.
Media speculation over a possible engagement ran wild over the past months. Bundchen denied reports that Brady proposed during a trip in a private jet around Christmas.
In late 2008, the couple bought an $11 million villa in Los Angeles' upmarket Brentwood neighbourhood.

Post 'Slumdog...' Freida Pinto is India's ultimate cover girl

London, Feb 27 (IANS) Just months ago she was a virtual nobody, but with the eight Oscar sweep by her debut film "Slumdog Millionaire", Indian model-turned-actress Freida Pinto is now hot property for magazine covers.
Being the obvious new darling of Hollywood, Freida has also become a much in-demand magazine cover girl back home for obvious reasons, reports dailymail.co.uk.
The actress will dominate the newsstands across India in March, with men's magazine Maxim opting to put her face and knock-out body on its cover, as will women's magazines Cosmopolitan and Vogue.
Basking in her new found success, the 24-year-old, who has described her meteoric rise to fame as a "dream", also appears on the cover of industry bible Entertainment Weekly alongside her co-star from the underdog drama Dev Patel.
Posing for the covers didn't come hard for the actress as she started out her career posing in advertisements for products like Wrigley's Chewing Gum.
"I used to anchor a travel show in India, which is clearly not acting, and I had done a little bit of modelling. Both of those things helped me with the camera," she said.
Freida, however, always had acting at the back of her mind as a career.
"I always wanted to act in films, but in India it's very difficult to become an actress if you haven't got a godfather - someone with influence, always a man, in the industry to help get you into auditions.
"But I didn't need a godfather for 'Slumdog...' I just went along, did the audition with Dev and then Danny picked me," she explained.
Despite the success of her first film and her passion for acting, she is not sure of her career in the profession.
"I have no idea whether acting is a future for me, but I would like to do more film work. The reaction to 'Slumdog...' has been beyond my wildest expectations."
In what will be only her second film, Freida is now lined up to star in Woody Allen's next alongside Hollywood stars Josh Brolin, Naomi Watts and Anthony Hopkins.
Filming will start in London this summer.

Kareena Kapoor shines on the inaugural issue of Harper's Bazaar

The aforementioned words aptly and also literally describe the lissome lass of Bollywood as she is the 'Inaugural cover-girl' of the mega launch issue of the world-famous fashion and lifestyle magazine Harpers' Bazaar.
As we had (exclusively) carried the news earlier this week, the issue does contain some of beautiful pictures of Kareena and Saif on the beaches of Mauritius. After seeing this couple romancing along the coastline, one wonders if this romance is enhancing the scenic beauty of the to-die-for beaches or is it the other way round! Get this issue to see for yourself some of the most precious verbal gems that Saifeena have belted out in this issue, with Bebo saying, "I think I am just perfect, because on screen, being my size looks great".
All in all, a must buy-issue for the Bollywood buffs! BTW, when we said that 'Kareena shines on the inaugural issue of Harper's Bazaar', we really meant our words as this issue comes with 'diamonds' attached on its cover! Go and check for yourself!

After bikinis and minis, Priyanka goes de-glam for 'Kaminay'

Mumbai, March 1 (IANS) She donned trendy mini skirts and a bikini in "Dostana" and was an absolute stunner on the ramp in "Fashion", but Priyanka Chopra is going the de-glam way for Vishal Bharadwaj's "Kaminay".
"In terms of look, it's definitely not glamorous. In fact, you don't really see me wearing too much make up in the film," Priyanka told IANS.
"Kaminay" will be her first release of 2009 as a leading lady after a hectic 2008, which saw her featuring in six back-to-back releases - "Love Story 2050", "God Tussi Great Ho", "Chamku", "Drona", "Fashion" and "Dostana".
What makes "Kaminay" special is that she has got to work with Bharadwaj, a master story teller known for giving his leading ladies a very 'real' lived-in look.
Speaking about her character in the film, Priyanka says: "Sweety is a very real character. She is a college-going girl in her early 20s and we have tried to keep her extremely believable."
"We tried to ensure that the look fits the characterisation," she adds.
Since she was seen in a glam avatar in both "Fashion" and "Dostana", did she have any apprehensions about donning an entirely distinct look in "Kaminay"?
"Not at all. It was a conscious decision. I have always striven to do different things in each and every film of mine, be it with the character or the look. That's visible in films like 'Don', 'Love Story 2050', 'Fashion' and 'Dostana'.
"In continuation of that, 'Kaminay' and 'What's Your Rashee' (by Ashutosh Gowariker) will see me essaying different characters, far removed from what I have ever played. I am very excited about both!"
Priyanka stars opposite Shahid Kapur in "Kaminay" and the actor too is said to have a distinct look. Shahid, known for his chocolate boy image, plays a double role, and one of the characters played by him not just stammers but also keeps an unkempt look.
But audiences will have to wait to see their makeovers until June 5, when "Kaminay" is set to release.

Priyanka, Akshay together again, for a show

Mumbai, Dec 26 (IANS) Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra, who had stopped working together in spite of doing successful films like "Aitraaz" and "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi", came together after a four-year gap for a show in Hong Kong.
Akshay and Priyanka performed together on stage Thursday for Christmas at the Convention Centre in Hong Kong for the show - From Chandni Chowk To Hong Kong.
"Yes, I performed on stage with Akshay Kumar in Hong Kong. It was great fun," Priyanka, who has delivered two hits in the row - "Fashion" and "Dostana" - told IANS.
And what a rollicking show it was! Audiences have been craving to see the hit pair together for three years. Joining the pair was Bipasha Basu.
For reasons best known to them, Akshay and Priyanka, who came together for the first time in "Andaaz", were never seen as a couple on screen after "Waqt - Race Against Time". So deep was the cleft between the pair that Suneel Darshan had to scrap an Akshay-Priyanka starrer after picturising a song with them.
After Priyanka drifted away, Akshay tried to form a screen pair with Kareena Kapoor by doing some not so successful films like "Talaash", "Bewafaa" and "Tashan". When that didn't work too well, the actor turned to Katrina Kaif for professional sustenance.
But now it seems the ice has thawed.

New Delhi, Indian television's Ugly Betty Mona Singh

"Aamir is so good. It's not even funny. He makes me so nervous. In fact, the thought of working with any of the big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan makes me very nervous. But for now, I am excited," Mona told IANS over telephone from Mumbai.
In "Three Idiots", which is based on Chetan Bhagat's best-selling novel "Five Point Someone" and is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Mona plays Kareena Kapoor's sister.
"I play a very bubbly character in the film and my look is very different from what I look right now. My role is really good and I have a major part in the climax of the film," said Mona.
She became extremely popular when she essayed the role of ugly duckling Jassi in Sony TV's "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin". Her true identity was kept under wraps in the initial months of the show. Mona managed to win the viewers' heart as Jassi.
Now she is back to being in disguise on a new reality TV show "Arre Deewano Mujhe Pehchano". She would be competing with celebrity contestants Rakhi Sawant, Shweta Keswani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Yash Tonk, Gulshan Grover, Divya Dutta and Mandira Bedi to win the title of "Master of Disguise".
Commenting upon the format of the show, she said: "The show is all about stand-up comedy actually. It's about how well we can conceal our identity and find a scapegoat on the streets. It's quite a challenge for all of us and a very refreshing show."
Winner of two dance reality shows - "Jhalak Dikhla Jaa" and "Ek Khiladi EK Haseena", Mona is quite confident of her success on the show.
She said: "I think I will be good. I had successfully remained in disguise for 'Jassi...' so I might perform better than others. But my voice is a big giveaway. When I speak in Hindi, it has a very strong Punjabi accent so I have to work hard on it."
Right now Mona is seen in NDTV Imagine's hit soap "Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi".
"I found the character interesting, so I took it up. Also, 'Radhaa...' is a very simple and sweet show and I used to watch it regularly," she said.
For now, Mona is concentrating on "Arre Deewano Mujhe Pehchano" and "Three Idiots" and says some "interesting offers" are coming her way.

One terrorist left in Taj hotel, says NSG
MUMBAI: The NSG, which is engaged in a gun battle with the terrorists at Taj hotel here, said just one terrorist was still hiding and hoped to

Mumbai attacks British eyewitness 'frantically' tried to escape
Alan Jones from South Wales said that he was in a lift in the lobby at the Oberoi Trident Hotel in Mumbai when a man standing next to him was shot by terrorists.
He was one of an unknown number of British nationals caught up in the raids and forced to shelter from heavily-armed terrorists reportedly hunting for Westerners, specifically US and UK nationals.
Mr Jones, who is in Mumbai on business, said he was with a colleague when the shooting began.
He told the BBC: "We took the lift to the lobby and heard bangs as the door opened. A Japanese man, one of four in the lift, was shot and wounded at that precise moment."
As the injured man slumped to the floor he obstructed the doors.
"I frantically pressed the 'close door' button, but had to move the shot man's foot for the door to close," Mr Jones said.
After pulling the wounded man back into the lift they headed to their rooms, but were told by staff to head to a "safe" room in the hotel basement.
"There we met many residents, but nowhere near all of them," he said.
He was later escorted away from the hotel to an office.

This Friday, on 'Oye It's Friday', Farhan Akhtar has on his show Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy, the composers who have given music for each of the films directed by him - Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya and Don - The Chase Begins Again. - This Friday's show is special as it features Mugdha Godse not just giving fashion tips but also listing down her three requirements for an eligible man. While tall and good sense of humor are the Top-2, any guesses around her third requirement?

- A New Year special episode, 'Oye It's Friday' becomes even more interesting with Monica Bedi's wardrobe turning out to be a problem. Go behind the scenes to find out how during rehearsals, on the sets, her dupatta kept getting struck in her bangles and anklet and the props of the show.
- Any 'Big Boss' connection here? Of course yes! Watch Monica get started with her performance only after 'Big Boss' allowing her to do so. No wonder, Farhan along with Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy were amused by the thought that they were actually on the sets of the reality show!
- Farhan got emotional as he gave the credit of his success to Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. He also acknowledged that it was always fun working with them.
- Shankar Mahadevan discloses little known facts about himself, one of them being how he quit his job as a Computer Engineer one week before his marriage. Reason? He decided to pursue his passion for music. Did his family support this decision? Find it out in the show!
- Olympic Medalist Vijendra Singh made his presence felt in the show. A Bollywood fan, he discloses his liking for Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan. He also reveals about the acting offers that he has got ever since he became a nation wide name. Is he biting the bait?
- Vijendra also reveals the only relationship that means most to him; the one with 'Boxing'. There is also some fun in store with him giving Farhan some boxing tips for self defense.
- Did you know that Farhan Akhtar had directed the ever-so-popular 'Breathless' video that had made waves years ago? Written by Javed Akhtar, the song was performed by Shankar Mahadevan. In this episode, Shankar and Farhan came together to do the 'Breathless' act together!
Tune in to NDTV Imagine at 10 pm today to see this and a lot more as Farhan brings to fore yet another installment of 'Oye It's Friday'!
Jiah says she's lucky to have worked with superstars

Mumbai, Dec 27 (IANS) Jiah Khan has impressed with her performance in "Ghajini" and the 20-year-old says it was great acting with Aamir Khan in her second film, after having starred opposite superstar Amitabh Bachchan in her debut venture.
"If I had Mr. Bachchan as my co-star in the first film, here it's Aamir. Can't get any bigger," Jiah told IANS.
The young starlet admits she was intimidated by Aamir. "To match up with him was quite a tough task. I've grown up by 10 years in the last two years," she said.
"It's a big film for me. And I was very happy with my role. 'Nishabd' and 'Ghajini' are so different. I needed this kind of a challenge. I'm dressed from head to toe - except for that one song ('Lattoo') where I transform from a Plain Jane to a femme fatale," the actress added.
Jiah was exceptionally good in the item number "Lattoo", but she says it wasn't difficult doing the song as she has been dancing to Bollywood numbers since she was six years old.
" 'Lattoo' is my first big Bollywood item song. And I've been performing to Bollywood songs from the age of six in front of the mirror. I've had years of practice," Jiah laughed.
She was quick to brush aside reported difference between her and Asin, the lead actress of "Ghajini".
"I didn't have any scenes with Asin. But recently we were in Panchgani together and we spoke for the first time then. Without a doubt she was amazing in the Tamil version of 'Ghajini'. This is her first Bollywood film and therefore a big thing. From my side there's no bad blood at all. I think Asin is beautiful. She has been working a long time. This is just my second film. I had a lot to learn from both Asin and Aamir," said Jiah, who debuted with controversial film "Nishabd".
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, "Nishabd" was loosely based on Vladimir Nabokov's controversial novel "Lolita" and Jiah was paired opposite Amitabh Bachchan.
No regrets about doing an unconventional film like "Nishabd" so early in her career?
"None at all. I agree our audiences are still very conservative and 'Nishabd' was a very bold subject. Even in the West 'Lolita' created a huge controversy although they are no strangers to sex and nudity. For me 'Nishabd' was a challenge because I got to work with Mr. Bachchan and Mr. Varma so early in my career. And to be doing a central role in a film featuring Mr. Bachchan. It made me what I am. So I am grateful," she said. bollywood.com
Katrina Kaif is accident prone

According to cast members at Film City here, Katrina was doing an underwater sequence with Akshay Kumar when her foot got tangled under water.
"The more she tried to extricate herself the more her leg got tangled. She tried to scream for help, but because of the noise on the sets including the stunt co-ordinators who were shouting instructions to the entire cast, no one heard Katrina's screams of pain," a source told IANS.
Finally, Akshay bailed her out.
"Akshay saw that Katrina was in trouble. He quickly swam to her and got her out of the tangle," said the source.
Katrina's leg was badly hurt. "It could've been worse," said the source, "but tetanus shots and sedatives have eased her pain."
When contacted, Katrina tried to downplay the incident saying: "It was nothing. I hurt my leg. There was a cut that hasn't healed as yet. So I'm in pain."bollywood.com
Asin Keeping her fingers crossed

By Taran Adarsh, Bollywood Hungama News Network
Asin is keeping her fingers crossed! The verdict will be out in a few days from now. "I wouldn't say I am nervous. But I am anxious to know how the audiences react to the film and also to my performance. I haven't watched the film yet - I don't do that before it releases - but I've decided to watch it first day, first show," Asin states.
Asin may belong to Kerala, but the pretty actress, who's a leading name in South, speaks Hindi fluently. "We shot GHAJINI in sync sound, so there was no question of not knowing the language," she smiles. In fact, Aamir had called up Asin after the screening of the Tamil version, congratulating her on her performance in the film. "In the end, he casually asked me if I could speak in Hindi. I replied in the affirmative. I didn't realize why he asked me that question, until the makers approached me for the Hindi remake," she reminisces.
With GHAJINI and LONDON DREAMS in her kitty, Asin has decided to move bag and baggage to Mumbai. "I moved to Mumbai in January this year. But that doesn't mean I've closed the doors for South films. If the role interests me, I would instantly say 'yes' to a Tamil or Malayalam film. Let's see how the career goes after GHAJINI," she smiles
